What changes when generating convincing information becomes cheap, fast and scalable?
Why this matters
Our short outcomes film introduces the central message of the Dresden workshop: the challenge is not simply more fake news, but the wider operations through which narratives are developed, targeted, distributed and amplified.
The international workshop From Prompt to Propaganda brought together scientific researchers, fact-checkers, journalists, public institutions and experts in cybersecurity, governance and societal resilience. The film distils why this collaboration matters beyond the conference room.
What we can learn
Three conceptual refinements emerged from the synthesis: studying complete influence operations rather than isolated content, recognising interacting information and audience-data flows, and understanding disinformation as embedded in real-world tensions and feedback.
The full report presents eight cross-cutting findings and thirteen emerging research challenges. These are workshop-grounded hypotheses and priorities that invite broader validation and practical collaboration.
